Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Using Search Engines

In this article I want to talk about Strategies for search engine uses. First, as you know there are many different search engine's out there and they have many different option's. I'll discuss a few of them here.

Most search engines have a lot of ways for you to refine and control your searches. A variety of them offer menu driven systems for this and other engines have a variety of special commands that you must use as part of your inquiry. Here are some basic commands you can use without having to learn to do power searching.

When you are searching for an item, try to be specific. Instead of searching for “Vista bugs”, try searching for , why does my computer do this? . This would be the action that's occurring. You will get more accurate responses this way.

You can use the plus symbol to add. Sometimes, you will want to make sure that a search engine finds pages that have all the words you enter, not just some of them. The plus symbol lets you do this.

You can use the minus symbol to subtract . Occasionally, you may want a search engine to find articles that have one word in them but not another word. The minus symbol lets you do this. For instance, say you want IRS info but without collecting taxes. The command would be IRS – collecting taxes. You will get IRS info but no collecting taxes info.

These are the basic commands that most people will be using, most of the time. You can go to your favorite search engine and practice these commands to become familiar with them.

There are of course the power searching commands available for each search engine, and it is probably a good idea to read the help files at each search engine to get more detailed information about what they are and what they do.

Now, all that being said, I hope that I have given you an easy to learn strategy that you can use for the search engines, but now I will talk about Google.

Google has become the most used search engine in the world. This does not mean you should ignore the others though. If you are an affiliate marketer, your life could well depend on Google and chances are it will!

Optimizing your site for Google is a really good move if you want your site to really succeed on line. Google accounts for over 50% of the internet searches in the United States alone. This means you must do what you can to please Google. Your rewards will be legion, as they say. If you're a Google fan, then you are in the majority of internet users that trust and respect Google. Having your site in the top ten for your niche on Google is very often the same thing as having money in the bank.

This is a very simplified rendition of how to work with the search engines, and there is more detail at my Wealthy Affiliates site. There are article writing help as well as adwords help. These are both skills that you can use to build up your bank account. Just click on the Internet University link to the right of this article and you'll be on your way.
