Mood:  party time!
Now Playing: Advantages of Internet Marketing
Topic: Authority Sites

One question I am constantly asked is, “What are Authority Sites?”. I'll attempt to answer this question in an understandable manner. The truth is, Authority sites have been around since the internet was young. So its, been a while. That's not to say the Internet is old, though. The Internet is constantly changing and so will the Authority sites.

When you have a site that a lot of other sites link to because the site is a source of authoritative information, most search engines will recognize that site as an authority site. It works just like a library. One of the advantages of Internet Marketing is that these sites have been created and they help everyone to a certain degree, and they have some of the following traits.

Web pages that are updated on a regular basis and there may be thousands of them, but most likely a few hundred. Lots of content on a particular subject, for instance, acquiring wealth, or maybe a particular type of site, such as weather.

Typically , they have large numbers of inbound links , usually from related sites. There are also outgoing links to high quality sites that have relevant content.

They have what is called curb appeal in Real Estate , or they look professional. It helps if they have a domain extension such as .gov or .edu, but any extension is OK.

If all of the above are true, then the site should have a high Google PR rank.

There are a lot of different types of sites on the Internet and search engine spiders crawl them all. On one end of the spectrum, you have news sites, link farm sites and sites selling only one product. The sites with a lot of hype on them that are telling you that you can make a small fortune while you sleep, for instance, the spiders , as they get more complex, are able to detect and index sites like this into the category of unlikely to generate much good traffic.

Right at the top of search engine rankings are authority sites. If you can get your site recognized as an Authority site , it will be like winning the Indy 500, and everyone will know who you are. The good part about this is that you can achieve this goal on a small budget.

If you can establish a high profile presence in your niche, it should make it profitable and create high traffic. By reading this article you are showing that you have not seen satisfactory results in your SEO efforts and you're not getting enough daily unique visitors .

The sad fact is that almost all new site builds fail to capture the market they were designed for. The problem is not always because of a bad product idea, or service or content , though..

One possible reason for this is that the owner of the site has no real idea of how hard it is to get traffic to a site, even if he or she has a great idea. So, sites come and go on the Internet without so much as a note that they were ever even on line.

Another reason could be that the site never made it into the search engines with their keywords. Possibly, they were never linked to or from other Authority sites. Because of these things , they just never generated the Buzz. Being unable to to develop a regular readership and a constant supply of visitors and customers puts you in the position of Promote or die. The site owner never learned what it really takes to find a niche with an excellent product or service and how to become the dominant force in that niche or at least on a par with the highest traffic producing sites in it.

Successful Internet Marketer's tend to fall into a couple of different categories. Mainly , there are those who have the stake that it takes to invest in Search Engine Optimization , design of a website, programming and marketing.

Then there are the people who try to learn it all themselves, and this can literally take years to do, before they can learn to make a dominating presence in their niche . A lot of them never get this far because it has now been to many days to internet marketing success.

Trying to learn it all yourself and do all the trial and error it takes to develop a niche is not necessary anymore. There is at least one Internet University that you can do right on the web, at your own pace.

There is free hosting available after you learn how to build your site and then you can learn all about getting traffic. If you would like to give this a try, and I recommend it, just click on the Internet University link.
